The ol’ wine bottle-dime-pen-shoe trick
Monday, May 1st, 2006This weekend I found myself on a beach with a few bottles of wine and no corkscrew. To open a wine bottle without that particular tool you’ll need a coin about the size of a dime (in europe it’s a penny), a pen and a hard soled shoe.
- Tear off the foil/plastic covering the neck of the win bottle and place the coin atop the cork. It should sit just below the lip of the bottle.
- Now just place the pen end-down on top of the coin and bash the tip with your shoe until the cork drops into the bottle. Be prepared for a little wine to spurt out of the bottle when this happens.
Enjoy!
